I just found quite a nice feature on Google Earth - Flight Sim mode.
Open up Google Earth and press Ctrl+Alt+A or access it via the menu. Tools > Enter Flight Simulator.
You then have a choice of two planes:

To control the planes use the arrow keys. Throttle is PgUp and PgDn. Flaps can be turned on with F and off with Shift+F. Other keys can be found here:
It's a nice way to see your home town or visit a holiday destination from the comfort of your armchair!
You could also explore some areas in a Geography lesson and add an extra dimension.
